The thick plottens: From me to Tele:- I checked onto the Tele site and found that my profile has been substituted for that of, 'selkie' (**************). I do not know this person but I feel certain that he/she would not like to discover that her personal email address has been made available to third parties. Equally, I am rather concerned as to where my profile has gone and who has access to it. Please attend to this immediately. Please note that Acrobat images have been created of these pages lest the matter needs to be taken further. -- TiddlesFrom the Tele to me:- Good afternoon,
Apologies for the problems you having using the system.
Firstly, I can confirm your own account is still available and you should be able to log in using your standard email/password combination that you have previously used. We do not store password in an unencrypted format and so you may need to reset your password.
With regards to the profile for a different user showing up, this is not something that should happen unless you are accessing the site from a computer which has not logged out of a specific user. I haven't been able to replicate your problem on any other machine within the office here.
Can you give us some more information please?
Did you click a link to the site, are you using a public computer etc?
There are no issues that I am aware of that could cause a user to log in to the site as a different user. Could you also send me the screen captures that you have taken?
Regards,
Hugh, Web TeamAnd me to them:-
Well Hugh, here's a screenshot of what greeted me when I visited your site today plus an Acrobat image of *********** profile. I have my username and password stored so login is automatic. I was astounded to discover that I was no longer me. I am sure you are already aware that *********** is most displeased about all this and who can blame her. Before you go off on flights of fancy about me our any of my friends on, 'Not The Tele' being involved in this, be aware that I am a General Practitioner, NOT Alan Turing! -- Iain TiddlesDiscuss! Well returning to my old job as a service engineer 1) He hasnae a clue and is clutching at straws 2) He's not as technically astute as he likes to think he is 3) He has no idea how his system works 4) he hasnae a clue and is clutching at straws 5) Blame the user - surprisingly this is usually the case, BUT NOT HERE as its two separate people 6) he hasnae a clue and is clutching at straws

Well as you know Sammy, IT is not my thing but I was quite peeved when I detected the slight imputation that I had somehow done something wrong. Methinks they have tried to be oh so clever and it blew up in their faces. And this is the organisation that is meant to give us all the news? ?

He is a cheeky wee midden. And, he'll get no more information from me, he cocked up and could land in deep dung. What if the girl had actually left her phone number and other personal details? AND, what about MY profile, where did it go? ??

Oh watch this space Bleachie, things may get hotter!!!!! And they actually want us to give them our credit/debit card details to them so that we can, 'enjoy' their online experience? You might as well stand outside the Soak Mall handing out your bank details to every junkie you see.

Sam's careful analysis of the situation has summed up the matter up in a way no one can argue with. The guy from the Tele hasn't got a clue

I'll be watching The Greenock Tele incompetents with access to folks' credit card / debit card details is a frightening thought indeed ! Hopefully though, those who visited the site will be only too aware how bad it is and will give it a very wide berth, now that they actually want to charge people to view it lol

Yes, I wonder if Bro Burrows at Inverclyde Now might have a view on it. One thing is absolutely certain, their entire IT system is springing leaks at an alarming rate..teehee....I'm so sad, boo hoo

After a quick google and read up I think you could be right rod.
A pal of mine is interested in all that sort of, well nefarious hacking deeds but purely from a passing interest point of view. I'll have a word with him when I catch up this week

The more I am thinking about this the more I realise how serious it is. If selkie had signed up for the pay site, would her credit/debit card details et al have showed up too? I'm looking forward to the next email from them.

If they have been attacked, today would be the best day to do it with all the hoped for upgrades to pay per view. Feckless tossers

I'm sending a copy off to the manufacturers of Prep H and asking them for sponsorship.
In the meantime I'll update the logo every so often, so watch that space.
