From the Tele:
Normally I'm very uncomfortable about people who working in essential services going on strike here we have a situation where the government has told us that we don't need the Greenock Station. If this is so, let's put it to the test. Let's see how an Ulster call centre deals with names like Ardnamurchan or Tighnabruich.

I agree with the need for the Coastguards to go on strike a presence with local knowledge is required for the massive area the Greenock Station covers.
Did last week's events off the Esplanade not ring any alarm bells with the powers at be? Instead of one poor man dead if this closure was already in place we could have had 3 deaths last week.
At least they have limited their strike to the early hours of the morning.

It's similar to the situation when the police etc., went all call centre-ish and you struggle to get the ghoul at the other end to grasp what you are saying. I would hate to be stuck on a broken, drifting boatie trying to reason with someone with an impenetrable Ulster accent.
