inverclydenow.com/news/local/7134-highland-games-disrupted-by-weatherThis brings back dreadful memories for me, my father was heavily into the pipe-band thing and I got dragged to this and many others every year. I cannot recall any time when it was dry and I spent miserable hours in pouring rain listening to hordes of pipers tuning up, making that hellish wailing sound. I always had to stay right next to him because, "There are lots of bad men"!!!!! Years later I learned that this was all too true. My mother, wise woman that she is, always complained of a, 'sick headache' and excused herself from attendance. When I tried the same excuse I was told that, "Wee boys don't get sick headaches". Finally, I rebelled when he tried to get me to join a pipe band telling him that I would rather die of dysentery (I was 15!!!). He kept going to Highland Games up to last year before he died but he had to go with his cronies because my mother's sick headaches were never cured and my boys would all say, "yea right Papa, tell us all about it when you get back"! Still and all, it is sad that it rained and ruined things but hey, that's the price we pay for living here.

I spent many a year attending pipe band competitions with teh Boys Brigade I can safely say that most are indeed pish
Not only that teh highland dancing competitions are worse - tehy are really shite, frequented by the most bitchparents you could ever meet
Highland Games bores the tits aff you as well
Couple of yerars back we went to Cowal after about 10 years absence, or whenever they stopped peopel drinking in teh street - it was complete and utter shite, highland games, shittin in a bucket was a bigger piece of fun
