Hope the also look into Mr Aikman's background and find out he is not a fit and proper person to run this service with his passed business record.

Exactly fed, that's another reason why I am quite concerned as to why the contract was awarded. Once again, I smell shite.

But can the SPT take the contract from Clydelink and go through the tender process all over again and do they have the guts to do this?

So far as I can see, Aikman has not complied with ANY of the contract's stipulations. He said he would build a new, purpose built vessel..he cancelled that. He said he would provide a suitable alternative, he found a desperate looking auld tub with no certification that has been out of service more times that it's been on. He brought in another thing that was quite obviously a fishing boat and totally unsuited to its task.
All in all a complete shambles. It simply isn't possible for anyone to run a service at the price Aikman quoted. Now they'll have to go cap in hand to wee Munro who must be loving this. They'll have to accept whatever exorbitant fees he'll demand. Or........they'll drop the service!!!!!
Additionally, I think any inquiry should be looking around for the remains of brown envelopes particularly amongst people who supported Aikman in spite of the overwhelming disaster he had created.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, I SMELL SHITE!

The only thing you can say for the last operator of this service is that he had plenty of boats as a backup for the service when the service boat had to be taken out of service.
Is this not considered a life line service? If so I can't see the SPT dropping the funding even if they have to remove the current operator.

I'm not sure fed but it certainly is busy enough. The last time I travelled on the service (to Helensburgh via Kilcreggan) it was a dreadful day and the boat was heaving. I'd certainly not want to be on Aikman's tub on such a day.
I have to say that I dislike wee Munro who has something of an attitude problem in his dealings with anybody and his safety practices on the Glasgow services leave much to be desired. Crews with NO English, no safety equipment and only one crew member to berth a BIG boat and MUCH more. And if he's reading this and he has any ideas about screaming libel, he should know that I have MANY photos showing up his incompetence graphically.
