www.greenocktelegraph.co.uk/news/freecontent/articles/2012/05/01/428124-pub-raises-4000-for-hospice/Let me try to understand this, the good patrons of Monteith's Bar have raised £4,000 for the Hospice's lymphoedema department and what is the money to be spent on? Vibro chairs and a digicam? Forgive me but I can think of no clinical need for vibrating chairs and digital cameras in the treatment and care of lymphoedema sufferers. Another sign of the Hospice mocking its subscribers. Mind you it's better than sending the dosh up to Kincaid House aka P B Wrights.

"But the £4,000 collected will actually pay for two of them, as well as a good quality camera to take pictures before, during and after treatment to see how the patient is progressing."
See the "after" picture, is that a photie of them pan-breid in thur coffin?
Efter all surely no-one "progresses" to being pan-breid

It's mind blowing, folk think they are helping the hospice when all they're doing is funding ego-building mince like this.
That Access place should NEVER have opened, money that should be spent on HOSPICE care, ie., paliative care is being lavished on this daft building. The poor bastards who are climbing the walls in pain are shuffled up to Kincaid House to scream until they die.
The Hospice was NEVER meant to be about this shite. No amount of vibrators or fancy cameras can help the treatment of this disease, it's all shite and it makes me boil with anger.

It's a load of pish. I think we need an inquiry into the running of the Hospice and it's mission. Too many people are ploughing money into because we want to see our loved ones cared for when they are nearing their end. Everyone is shocked to discover that millions are thrown at this Access place instead of the Hospice itself. The main place is dreadfully short of beds so when you're nearing your end, instead of moving on with dignity and without pain, you are dumped up at Kincaid House to be, 'cared' for by some cleaner (if you're lucky). You can't have a syringe driver (morphine pump) because there has to be at least two qualified people at all times. If you need pain relief, don't count upon getting it just face up to the fact that your death will not be pleasant and painfree.
We used to donate quite lot of money and articles to the Hospice but now they get bugger all from us.
I'm sorry for Mrs Sanderson but she has survived because of her treatment and her own metabolism, no amount of bouncing furniture and watching the budgie made a jot of difference nor will it have even the slightest effect on anyone else. £4000 would have bought a few ripple mattresses and lots besides for people who are NOT going to get better.
If I was suffering from this disorder, I would stick one on you if you suggested sitting on a vibrating chair and if you took my photie during and after my treatment I'd stab you..what a f****** bizarre notion no doubt dreamt up by someone who has never had anything more serious than the running shits.

i know how it feels to be so ill and nearing the end as i took care of my gran when she came to live with us....the pain was terrible and nothing took it away.....since my mum and dad were working i would be up during the night just sitting with her trying to comfort her.....i remember the doctor leaving strong pain relief and believe me i was going to do as she asked and give her an overdose but moral's wouldnt allow it...........if it was now i would do as i was asked

How can our community rationally support a charity which is not fit for purpose? We cannot. So then... does AH get its act together and take necessary steps to provide us with what surely must be spelled out in its mandate... or do they close doors? If they close doors how would we then propose to provide the ongoing palliative care we all deserve? Are we trapped by circumstances... and though not blind to the situation, nonetheless unable to either make changes or take alternative actions? So much of life comes down to this doesn't it. We can bitch and moan, point fingers and accuse (rightly so) but in the end we are like lemmings at the cliffside. And without so much as a on your bike... off we go.

Waste of space and money, now I remember reading that trials were on looking at why cats purr and at first they thought contentment and then they realised that it was to help make new bone and trials went on for arthritis treatment, now I am sure someone in pain and dying , making new bone is the least of their worries.
I don't know how the trials are getting on, but I do now that the access building should be a overflow for the hospice as the access building could be sited in any other public building. The Rankin should have never been sold outwith the community it should have be cleared and a new hospice built there with fresh air and a wonderful view. But !!!!!! then again I am one who allowed the council and the NHS to sh#t on me and this is the results, no respect for the minions. People how did we get here.

Have you read the web page for Kincaid house, it sounds absolutely palacial, tranquil with river views and well trained care staff, now would you say tidds ,that is false advertising. They say it is 5 star.
