An ex-colleague of mine's wife was a primary teacher in Govan, she had the job one year of registering the new intake of weans for the following August. One mother turned up wae the wean to register. She asked the mother the weans first name, the mother said goo-ay ( as in gooy) pals wife said that's an unusual name, how do you spell that
GUY
she said that spells guy as in guy Fawkes.
No no definitely goo-ay, ah read it in a book ah hud

Now I don't know if this is true or not but I have been told that the Tele has a book of names for mothers who are seeking a unique name for their unfortunate progeny.

I was going to say, poor wean stuck with a name like that but they'll likely grow up and call their own weans, Strictly and Towie
