the whole area the three towns are shit holes thanks to labour, they have not tried to bring heavy industry back in to the area they think a few call centre jobs will appease the people. this town will never move forward the people who run it dont have the brains you look at other towns and they try and make somthing of themselves and try to bring new light to the area, industrial parks and large shopping areas like irvine and other places, this lot are so far up tesco`s arse that they say who can have shops here. Mc Neil and McKenzie are only in this for the large pension at the end money that most people of greenock can only dream about

What heavy industry do you expect to bring to the town?
Scotland/ the UK do not make anything any more
The problem with the town is too many people still living in the shadow of the ship yards get real they are gone and they are not coming back

I agree with what you say Moon, heavy industry is not coming back here, well not in my lifetime anyway. What really pisses me off is the constant litany of false promises coming out of the mouths of the current council and those who aspire to form the next one.
Where I find Ahlfield wanting is that he has been nothing other than vote fodder for the Labour Party. We have been hearing about the, 'Gourock Redevelopment Project' for more than twenty years and have seen both Labour and LibDem groups do NOTHING. Gourock was as big a tip in 1990 is it is today. I am fed up to the back teeth about hearing of the Gourock Pool saga. There was nothing wrong with the old one. Basically this exercise was a sop to shut the girny Gourockians up, nice try but.....
Gourock people tell me that they only voted for Ahfield because he was well-known and liked and promised an independent voice in the council. Basically instead all Gourock got was another Labour councillor.
The same could be said for Charlie McCallum, he is another one who fell under the spell of the Labour group and toed the line when told to. In my opinion, he has always been Labour despite his dalliances with other parties over the years.
I find it difficult to discuss old Wilson at all, he says he is a, 'true Tory' and worships at the shrine of Thatcher yet he votes with Labour and accepted the position of Deputy Provost. Hardly what his supporters in Kilmacolm had in mind really.
In some ways I am in favour of independent councillors but only if they are actually independent. The Labour mob should have been left to run a minority administration rather than being handed what is effectively a working majority. Very democratic..NOT!
I think the time has come for colours to be nailed to the mast so that we can see exactly what is on offer and we should not be beguiled by wolves in sheep's clothing.

I have been to lots of meeting in communities in this town and the one thing about them all is, that if you dare to question a decision, they just about jump down your throat, however if you persist in your argument for or against, people really do start to think and they also question things.
People who dare to question are called instigators and they are the real independants and because of the the lack of instigators, we have a council that think they own the town and can do whatever with it, personally the first thing that should be done in the council is,
stop all closed meeting, all meeting should be open to the public afterall we are paying for this service and have the right to see that our interests are looked after
Any councillor caught working to their own advantage ( skullduggery ) should be instantly dismissed.
All planning applications and anything concerning Greenock should be made public in the local newspaper and library as well as being put on the council site.
The income regarding land shops rented out should be made public .
I could add to this list and I am sure that some people could add or take away from the list but tell me, WHAT DO YOU EXPECT FROM A COUNCIL.

sure moon, there was the planning applicatin that was stamped and when the fire brigade had to attend them, the roof of the car park was too low and that was against the law.........did they have to tear it down ?.................NO
Planning to clear the Garvel dock and remove Garvel house to be rebuilt in another site.........called out of sight.
Can we all add to this list.

horn i went to see the plannig dept about building a 4 bedroom house next to mine on my land they told me there would not be a problem, but i had to get RCH permission for access to the house because the land at the back and the land at the front was theirs, i wrote them a letter with outline plans of my house and where i wanted to build in october last year i still have not hear from them, the wee shit i wrote to was Laurence pavier i think that how you spell it

Send it again as a registered package and state that you expect to hear from them with 7 working days or you will assume that they have accepted your request. If they don't reply, you can then assert tacit approval and can then proceed. It's the only way to deal with rectal lesions like this.
