a lot of folks get put onto other places like working links who take over their benefit payments...by doing this they are able to massage the unemployment figures to suit as they are no longer on the dss files

The thing is too, that there isn't a hope in hell of any large scale employer coming to inverclyde, indeed even, why should they?

Anyone who thinks there will be enough jobs around to cater for the unemployed in inverclyde needs their heid looked.
Inverclyde is an economic basket case, you would need to be aff yer heid to locate yer business here.
The amount of folk locally who don't turn up for interviews, don't turn up to work on time or manage a full shift, never mind a full week s amazing.
People I know, who run a restaurant and pay above minimum wage, struggle to find quality folk. The amount of lazy basturts they get s unbelievable.
They even had somebody 'worked' a couple do days then went aff on the sick, eventually they bagged them, it went to a tribunal, only for the "employee" to get told she was in the wrang and tae fek aff.
Total waste of money all round
It's time the local lazy basturts were given a short sharp shock, tellt ae get on their bike and find themselves some work, no matter what.
HP are trying to employ initially around 500 folk up at Erskine, these are high skilled, high paid jobs, many at entry level too. Time we stopped pandering to the lowest common denominator and make it clear to some - no effort in looking for or keeping a job, then fek aff, nae dole for you a lazy fekker. The HP jobs are there for the taking, nae Fukwits need apply, unfortunately that means a lot of the unemployed in inverclyde. A lot only have themselves to blame, it's not our fault they are thick and stupid, didnae bother their arse at school and expect everything on a plate - fukem

I personally think it is time that the young either go back to education or are put to painting etc to clean up the town and put a wee bit of pride into them and give them a choice, basic money or a bit bit more and learn how to work as a team and socialise, I am sure that a lot of young given a chance will go for it, afterall the years pass by quickly and before they know it they are 20,30, and 40 and on the scrape heap

I am not really a supporter of the kind of slavery we read of lately. There are loads of decent kids who like MOST people in Scotland cannot get a job. I don't think having them work for nothing at Arnold (Honest as the days is long) Clark is much help and there is no way in hell any of my sons would have been permitted to do that. I agree about further education being a good step forward but we must also note that there are thousands of kids with top degrees from real universities who cannot find work. We also need to take a very close look at James Watt College and places like it. Endless and totally useless courses in, 'Travel and Tourism', Health and Beauty' and 'Music and Drama'. These courses and the many like them are a waste of resources and a waste of time. If you are good enough to study, Music and Drama, haul yourself up to The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RSAMD) and audition. If you show promise, you'll get in, if not, try Burger King. Why should I pay to have a bunch of weans have jam sessions? ? Now, there are of course MANY little shit bags who will never work. They wander the towns and the schemes in their ned-gear ready to stab anyone in their path. I have NO qualms whatsoever about making them work for nothing. I get so pissed off with all those bloody wheelie bins and strange collection days doled out to us in the name of recycling, it's a load of nonsense because most of it ends in landfill anyway. So, why not get these low-life entities out to the dump and make them sort all the stuff? We'll give them protective clothing and nice pink gloves, shovelling shit is all they're good for. Now whilst Ian McKenzie was giving the T-Mobile directors a supra-lingual rectal exam the other week, why didn't he ask, mid lick, why they didn't have any apprenticeships? I don't mean for answering the phones, I mean technical support and accounts management and anything else that requires a bit of special training and qualification. What of CIGNA? We are always hearing how good they are but if they really gave a shit about this community they'd consider offering scholarships for nursing, physio and other health professions. And Texas Instruments/Nat Semi, how many apprentices did they take on this year? Riverside Inverclyde, how many trainees did they take on that would lead to recognised qualifications? And what about those incompetent arseholes at RCH, how many people are they training toward membership of the Institute of Housing Management? ?? In fact, is there anyone at RCH who is a member of that prestigious organisation? No, I bloody doubt that. And what of the Bristow Empire, is he giving courses on how to create an unaccountable, unelected nepotistic fiefdom? Ah it would put years on you, what a pisshole we live in. Sammy, get your name down, I'll volunteer to be your Minister of Health

Sorry to hear that Sammy, I bet Mrs Sammy will be most displeased. Edinburgh is a nice city but it is quite an expensive place to be. Driving back and forth is hardly an option even if you could be arsed after a long day. The fuel costs would be over the top. Still, you shown that it can be done, I only hope you'll still be commenting regularly with perhaps a wee bit of a Jean Brodie slant! have laptop will travel............................ I worked in Embra for 2 years 2005-2007, drove every day then, as I was based at Embra Park on the outskirts left at 0530 to get there for 0700 then left again about 1530 Now am in the city centre, it takes as long to get in/out city centre as it does to get from Embra Park to Glesga - soonly driving daily if and when something needs sorted at hame - or on 3rd May fur ra election. Coulsdn't miss that. Missionary work to the denizens of Embra can be quite exhausting

I still think that we need to get rid of a whole load of red tape for young ones to get a apprentiship, remember once mind you of a young guy who got his apprenticship because his dad was a dare I say it " freemason " and he was as thick as 2 planks.
I know what you are saying tidds, and yes I know lots and lots of young decent people who need a chance and there are a lot more who need to get a life.

Oh beautiful city of Edinburgh is most beautiful to be seen Especially in the summer when you are visited by the Queen W T MacGonagall, Poet, Tragedian and wit I must say I preferred his Dundee/river tay ode as told by matt mcginn the tay, the tay, the silvery tay the sweetest river on earth. it goes past the shipyards every day and up and doon tae perth. it is a very rich river for which we must give thanks its never ever short of a bed and its always in touch with the banks
