Someone showed me this on twitter this morning…
Turns out McKenzie is claiming the SNP didn't and haven't opposed the closure of the coastguard base in Gourock….despite the fact they've run a campaign on it locally, they had stuart mcmillan speaking at the rally in battery park, they had a motion in the SNP spring conference specifically about it, their candidate in greenock even linked the video of it to McKenzie, showing he's lying…and nothing. I got a leaflet here from the Ward 3 SNP candidates, and they even have a bit about it in there, for god sakes!
He then alleged that the MP for the Na h-Eileanan an lar, Angus McNeil, was in FAVOUR of it closing. His response was a gratifyingly terse "guff".
It's now come out that the reason Iain is doing this is he has an Early Day Motion in Westminster opposing the coastguard closure - he submitted it on the 27th of March. Parliament recessed on…yep, you guessed it. 27th of March. Re-convened today. His EDM has only 7 signatures on it, most of them Labour.
When are lying wee Labour toads like McKenzie going to realise that in the modern world, where fact-checking takes seconds, you just can't get away with this kind of lying.
He has so far said NOTHING back to the hundreds of retweets and replies on his lies…
