inverclydenow.com/news/local/6781-councillor-alan-blair-stepping-down-at-electionsWell he certainly was hedging his bets but I reckon in the end, he didn't want to go out as a loser. The LibDems are finished here as they are elsewhere in the country. No one would ever believe them again, I know I wouldn't. It's beginning to look like a two horse race between the SNP and the, 'Ant Hill Mob'. I reckon Charlie McCallum will be sent back to his little world and Ronnie Ahlfield is for the dung heap too. It really is a dreadful pity that the SNP couldn't have put up more candidates and perhaps ONE less. Will we miss Alan Blair? Well he is always affable but I always got the impression that in his world, he came first. Still he is something of a character and the last of the old, 'west end mob' who formed the backbone of the Liberal Party. Old age is a terrible thing.

Looking at the photie of him and his "replacement" it appears he is being updated to an older model of loser.
