I think it's because35 years ago, news was a lot let prevalent, and less "instant" - also, you only heard about local, or national. National would only be a murder if it was exceptional in some way (a child, or several people etc.), and local was very local; nowadays you hear about stuff from all over the world every minute of the day, so they seem more common (not to mention the media used to be responsible and not panic folks, nowadays it's open season)... yet still, the facts show, less violent crime now than at any point since the late seventies...

Yes indeed. Instant media reporting, plus sensationalism of what does happen is much more prevalent nowadays. Just look at how quick inverclydenow can sometimes get stuff online. The fear of crime figures are miles ahead of the actuality

I think what has changed is the nature of these crimes. In the past, murders were nearly always, 'accidental' or 'domestic' if that's the word. Now we have premeditated killing and random knife attacks. These little rodents asserted that they were only going to, 'teach him a lesson' but anyone who leaves their home or wherever with a knife to, 'teach a lesson' is guilty of a premeditated act. When you stab someone, you are fully aware that you might kill that person.
They will get laughable sentences and will be back on the streets when they are still young and they will be heroes to their fellow rodents. Premeditated murder should attract a minimum sentence of 40 years.

I think we should be sending these wee feckers to the front line in Afghanistan TBH, they could walk in front of the vehicles/troops so as to protect them from IED's
Everyones a winner!!!!
