Braehead is all just chain-shops like new look et al. Really wish we could return to the days where there was a greengrocers, a butchers, a general shop etc. and NONE of them were big national generic mediocre chains…
Gourock at least has a few original shops left, but alas they're mostly arty galleries and couture fashion. Still, better than nothing.

for goodness sake....we need decent shops here...no wonder i am starting to go to breahead, it might be costly but worth it you only get decent shops when people have the money to spend in them or the catchment area is big enough to cover. no one in their right mind would open a quality shop in greenock, therz not enough people with the required disposable income to support it. but oor short-sighted coonsil seem to think that therz a big employer just around the corner coming to employ hunnerz if not thousandz of locals - well pigs will fly first. the only way this area can get decent shops is to become a dormitory area fur folks who work in glasgow and beyond - these commuters would have the right levels of disposable income to support better quality shops anyone who thinks otherwise about jobs etc is seriously deluded and needs to see their doctor

Braehead is all just chain-shops like new look et al. Reaquote] at least braehead has shops that arent closed and no pound shops and charity shops....its spacious and comfortable....i went into the soak mall the other week and i felt hemmed in with the amount of folks in it....if greenock was like that i would shop there but i'll continue to go up the road.
