The title is a bit 'tongue in cheek' but I think there is an issue that requires to be addressed.
Since the Tele site becoming pay-for-view the quality of topic and subsequently the discussions on this forum, in my opinion, has dropped considerably.
By definition this forum is dependant upon the Greenock Telegraph and it is with this in mind that I suggest that this site (perhaps through an alias) subscribe to the Tele to allow for posting of stories and subsequent comment within this site.
Obviously a seperate discussion would be required to agree the detailed workings of this, but perhaps a basic system whereby the core participants of this site (of which I would include myself if I could be so bold) take weekly/monthly turns to pay the £1/£4 subscription fee to the individual who has taken responsibility for the Tele subscription.
Access to the Tele subscription could be controlled by a weekly change of password e-mailed to the core group on the understanding that no comments are posted directly on the Tele site and that the password is not disclosed to others.
Open for discussion.

i buy a tele rag a couple of times a week and type out the report though i have to change the wording due to the copy write law....anyone can buy a telerag and do the same....we are not stuck to the telerag as you can use any paper that is online for any news item as long as post the link. it sounds a good idea but do we really want to go down the road the way the telerag has gone?...# it would be interesting to see what others think of this but to be honest when i look at the telerag there isnt much to report...

Well Winston highlights a good point but whilst we are not having as many local items to debate as we'd like, it is up to all members to try to dig up more stuff.
I know that our own Selkie was offered a free subscription but I don't know if she took that, 'kind offer' up. If she has, perhaps she might like to put a few comments from the, 'locked' stories on for us.
My own opinion is that the paywall has been a total disaster for the Tele and it is typical of that stupid woman who is in charge. She couldn't edit a primary one reading book. I reckon that they'll have to drop the daft idea soon because I would be surprised if anyone took them up on their, 'offer'.
Inverclyde Now has been quite good for some stories but the problem is that it is such a badly made website and finding stories can be very difficult.
We should also remember that this forum has a wide remit and there is no reason why we cannot debate matters from beyond Inverclyde. Of course my one disappointment with the forum is that we have no conflict aside from Mivi's hissy fits. If only she/he had seen fit to properly debate her issues things might have advanced.
I know that our site is visited by lots of unregistered people every day but I reckon they are afraid to register or comment lest we treat them the way the Tele treated us so, to anyone reading this, come and join us, you would receive a warm welcome and you would be free to say what you like without the Thought Police censoring every sentence.
