We are still with BT but even with them, there are sneaky little, 'clauses' dropped in every month that never mean better service, it's always more money for them. Most people don't realise the BT did away with, 'Friends and Family'.

when i was on bt i used to get that service as well...didnt know they did away with that........ we had a lot of problems when virgin was ntl.... when i started up at first it was the dial up service and i didnt have a credit card at that point so my friend used her's and when we were finished she told them to delete her card from the system....they didnt and for a few months she was actually paying my bill and so was i....she never ever checked her statement of account from the bank till i told her too and low and behold there it was....got it all sorted out and they gave the both of us free internet for 3 months....

There isn't a single telecom company that is worth a shit. They are all greedy, grasping bastards and Vodafone are tax dodgers. The amount that lot owe would halve the deficit!!!!!

Virgin Media are a bunch of croooks and should be investigsated by the OFT.
I had a simiar situation after joining VM, was told the monthly bill would be X amount, come time to pay the bill it was 3 times what they stated, I told them to shove it and since then they have been chasing me for £247, with many Sherriff/Baliffs letters sent, Which I ignore, IM going to wait until I get a court date then let rip in court about the overcharging and misleading to get a sale.
IM now back with BT, not the best I know but nowhere near as bad as Branson's mob

You know, I despise Beardie Branson. He is a shining example of a false god. Let's take his, 'Virgin' brand. In the beginning, there was a crappy record, 'company' that made discs (via EMI) for, 'up and coming artists'. The ethos was all high and mighty and full of ideals. Well anyway, right place at right time and the brand became established, it was a logo you could, 'trust'.
Next came the airline and we could see hairy, shitey prancing about 747s proclaiming a new, more affordable way of getting to North America, kind of like Freddie Laker reborn. PISH
The brand was born, half-witted people would buy into the bearded, pseudo hippy's benign capitalism and anything that had the, 'Virgin' name and logo on it was automatically seen as somehow more ethical than other companies.
Flushed with this success he went on to board the internet bandwaggon with an ISP that I, simple fool that I am, bought into. It proved to be virtually impossible to get away from this outfit when I grew tired of their overcharging.
Then we had, 'Virgin Trains' which was a convenient label for the Blessed Brian (I'm not in the slightest bit gay and anyone who is will go right to hell) Soutar's Stagecoach company.
Then we had NTL, Cable and Wireless, United Artists Cable and God knows who else. Suddenly, they all merged and became, Virgin Media and then UK TV was added to the mix with Virgin 1 and all the other shit. Still we all thought it was ok, Beardie was in charge, he won't let us down, he's ethical and an again hippy.
My fucking arse, he is a razor sharp capitalist who'd sell his granny for a fast buck. He has NOTHING to do with Virgin Media, he simply licences the name and logo.
And lately, Virgin Bank has appeared which has been kind enough to take the profitable bit of Northern Rock that we the taxpayer bought for a mere fraction of it's real worth. Ah but it's ethical banking (the b and the w on my keyboard are sometimes transposed).
Bottom line is Branson and anything to do with him, his logo and brand is shite, he is a face, a mirage skilfully created to gull us all.
I wouldn't have a product with Virgin on it not would I have anything from that evil old fuck, Murdoch. I am more than happy with Freeview and hell will freeze over before I'd pay to watch TV. I should be PAID to watch it!
In this day and age we have no option but to have a telephone but we should leave it like that, beware of bastards offering, 'one for all solutions'.
Branson = BASTARD

Branson = BASTARD The highlighted parts are indeed 100% correct - the only thing he really owns the majority of is the airline - everything else is either licensed or in a joint venture, where his contribution is the brand and him as a front man - virtually no outlay from him, but he gets to reap large returns.

we are with virgin unfortunatly but we use freeview as i wouldnt pay him the money to watch crap that is on......they have made so many mistakes with my bills in the past that they had to end up offering us different deal so my telephone bill monthly is quite cheap....they have gone into my direct debit 3 times in the one day 1 week after paying my bill........oh jocky didnt hit and miss them....that is a good idea about sending the stuff back to them, i get a lot of crap from them too and i think i'll be doing that as well.

They are consistently the worst for customer service yet still people sign up to them. It's been a couple of months since I last had one of their "salesmen" at the door, after telling lies about how wonderful they are, I burst out laughing, telling him he is nothing but a liar and I wouldn't touch talk-talk wae a barge pole. I pay a premium for my broadband with plusnet!, but they are consistently good, call centres uk based with virtually no customer service issues. In the broadband marketplace the old maxims most definitely apply You get what you pay for. No such thing as a free lunch. If something sounds to good to be true, it most certainly is
