from the greenock telegraph
inverclyde mp iain mckenzie is urging local people to ensure they are getting the best deal from their energy providers. he says many people could save hundreds of pounds off their bill just by changing companies. following on from last week,s big energy week, which is run by citizens advice, mr mckenzie met with the charity's cheif executive gillian guy. he is now encouraging local people to contact supliers to check they are on the best tarrif and payment method. as montly direct debits can be cheaper.

What he is forgetting is that it was his chum, Gordon Brown who emasculated Ofgem to the extent that they had no control over the utility companies. And where does the Undertaker stand on VAT being added to utility bills? When Labour were last in opposition they hammered Thatcher for doing it......

Of course, Undertaker and the Walnut Whip won't have to pay for their leccie in the, 'second home' so it's easy for him to spout simplistic rubbish like this. Changing your supplier is not easy and what few people realise is that if you take out one of their, 'price frozen' packages, you are tied into them by a long term contract which if the prices were to go down, as they have just done, you'd lose out and it would cost you a fortune to get out of your tie in.

Unsolicited calls at our door is met usually by Mrs Tiddles' stern demeanour. She reserves this for Mormons, J.Witnesses and cold callers.

i try that with jocky when he comes to the door without his keys....never works the one thing about living in a high flat is that we dont get many cold callers as they have to buzz the door

The ones we really hate are what we call, 'clipboard people'. These pathetic souls wander around trying to con you into taking out some discount package for some of our local restaurants. They NEVER take , 'no' for an answer.

They are paid buttons on a commission only basis and I can't help but feel sorry for them. I also feel sorry for the , 'chuggers', those pathetic souls sent out to shopping areas to con people into subscribing to mainstream charities. They are paid on the same, 'self employed' basis. I can't understand why charities that hell bent on eliminating exploitation in darkest Africa feel it's alright to abuse people here.

I'd ban cold calling. I think East Dumbarton Council did that to tackle rogue traders.

A number of years back whilst living in Southall I was having a bath when the door went, Wife No 2 answered and I could over hear the conversation. It was the dreaded Jehovah crowd and they weren't taking not interested for an answer. So I got out the bath and in all my glory went to the door, and said if you really want to talk about god, I'm here and having a bath if you'd like to come back at a later time I'll have finished and be able to talk. If you wish to speak to me in a hurry, just pray leave a message and I'll get back to you.
They were gone by the time I finished my say a prayer bit. I was blood annoyed as it was cold standing at the door naked.

According to the ex, they didn't know whether to stand still and shit themselves or fuck off the moment I arrived at the door. The fact they stayed so long after my arrival, long enough for my speech, was by all accounts quite farcical

Salutations to you all ! Whenever I'm in the East Wing Drawing room and feel a bit chilly....I simply get my man to throw another fox on the fire !! I haven't done that for a while as you all know, he absconded to the back streets of London to sell his body. Poor buggers little venture back-fired on him however. He had just made a deal with a dwarf with a wooden leg, one eye and a hump on his back when he was surrounded by peelers....turned out it was a sting operation !! Tell you what though - these police officers are cunning chaps - turns out that the dwarf with a wooden leg, one eye and a hump on his back was actually a female officer called Glenda...and six foot too in her stocking soles !!!! How devious is that?? The poor chap had to spend 3 days in a cell with low-life council tax payers before being put in front of the Magistrate...and got 3 weeks working on minimum wage at the tower of London...apparently he has to go round with the tourists (without an umbrella - I may add) and 'Oohh' and 'Aahh' as the bliddy Beafeater chappie recounts the grisly details of the Palaces past !! I'm waiting for the knock at the door....he'll be back....tail between his legs....it'd better be soon though....this pile of foxes is beginning to whiff a bit !!
Toodle Pip !!

Jock you did well and only told them the naked truth, Tiddles , I am sure you have seen plenty in all their glory and i for one thank those who made the first clothes and also the person who invented doors ( when I can't be bothered doing the housework ) I have to admit missing one of my sisters who had a great way with JW and Mormons, she would invite them to take a pew ( doorstep ) and remind them they had 15 mins to make their case and to remember god made the earth in 6 days rested on the 7th and as this would be the 7th day................I rest my case and will do as the lord did.........good bye.....
harpo, you have my pity, I mean having to live in among all those rodents, and to boot, all those character changes to confuse you , makes one wonder if they are coming or going.

Yes horn, just when I think that I have seen everything, someone comes in and floors me with something new. I always stifle gasps and have only ever shouted, "my God" once but I can't tell you about that one
