Someone in work got an email from (supposedly) Halifax today informing them that someone had tried to hack their online banking account and had failed. They were then asked to follow the link and change their details. I had a look and told them to phone Halifax and it turned out to be a scam. Looked really convincing, using a fake URL and fake SSL certificate, so be aware and warn everyone you know!

no idea, but I think it may be a little convincing to a Nigerian type scam, ruskies maybe
Like I said to the woman it happened to, "your probably one of 20,000 that were emailed, all they need is for one person to get sucked in and its been a success for them"

I'm an old Luddite, I NEVER use phone or internet banking. I don't even like using the bank telling machines.

Ah..the old ENT! I got my T&As done there, it was hell. "Just blow up this nice balloon little boy", then they stuffed a big ether mask over my face. Thirsty as f*** for hours, in agony and no possibility of a drink of water and no re-hydrating drip. I found out later the guy who anaesthetised me was an alkie GP who filled in occasionally for a few bob. Bloody charnel house and weans DID die.
I met an old nurse from there years ago and I remembered her face, she was a bad bitch who obviously hated weans. She slapped me for greetin'. When I told my mother she went to the matron, another f****** cow and gave her hell. Anyway, I was happy to able to tell this old wummin in her 70s that she was an evil cow who nowadays would be behind bars for child abuse. No sign whatever of contrition.
Oh and when I'm on the subject, they had a evil little c*** doctor who was Burmese or some such oriental thing with an orange face. I found out his name was Dr Pak Soo. He treated weans like shit and did his best to hurt them when he was taking nasal specimens. When I heard he'd died, I opened a bottle of Grouse!!!! Bastard.
As far as I am concerned, anyone who hurts a child or an old person is a piece of shit.

As far as I am concerned, anyone who hurts a child or an old person is a piece of shit. You have just reminded me of the black rubber "gas mask" at the ENT As a four and a hauf year old it traumatised me so much, that couple of years later, I had to get some teeth out at Huttons the dentist in Port Glasgow, he had an awfy way with kids, well apparently as soon as he tried to put mask over my face, I panicked and soundly booted him in the bawz - he refused to treat me after that. I had to go to the other Port dentist - McLeese, by this time my reputation had spread, mater at this time being the district midwife, was mortified, but he sneaked up behind me and held the tube over my shoulder letting me breathe in gas 'till going drowsy, then brought the mask round, I panicked again, but this time they were better prepared, the attending doctor and the mater managed to console/comfort me ( nowadays called hauding You doon) and I was soon out of it and the teeth were out. Never ever went back to Hutton, even after Ryan was there

The number of kids who died as a result of dentists anaesthetising weans. Johnny Ryan had one and I know of several others. And good on ye for kickin' the bastard, I hope his bits were swollen for days.

It wasn't until years later the mater eventually told me about it, I only have vague memories now, although I do remember the attending doctor at Huttons, standing in the corner reading the paper whilst this went on, the mater knew him, said he was an erse, Cannae remember his name, but would know it if someone said it. Never had a fear of visiting dentist since, even for non gas extractions, quite happy to get a local and sit back and watch.

anyone remember proverbs the dentist?? i was taken to him and i was scared so off course crying and he slapped me....i remember the mask but what i didnt know was that he used to wiff the gas himself, in fact he was adicted to the bloody stuff..... years later i did his wife's hair, what a snooty bitch she was as well...... eventually i went to a dentist when i was grown up off course, still scared stiff.....this man took my pulse and said to me that he would give me a valium injection as my heart was going to fast....i got the work done, no problem, i staggered out of the surgery into a car and home to sleep.........great man......proverbs was an animal who should never have been allowed to practice....i am still scared stiff a bit but the last time i went to the dentist at the orangefield i got 6 weeks worth of work and came out proud as punch with myself as i had conquered that fear..fear can be conquered

In those days, you tended to find a lot of failed medical students taking up dentistry. It wasn't as well regulated as it is today and preventative treatment was for Harley Street. It was all pull or fill. This explains why most people over 45 had wallies, my parents included!

My mother thought that Proverbs was wonderful, I thought he was mad. He was addicted to Nitrox and was, 'investigated' a few times. I wouldn't have gone near him. My dad always took me to Drainer but even now, I am not too keen on dentists and I ALWAYS question everything!!!!

what get's me all the time is the injections in the mouth....why they cant numb the mouth with something rather than inject that is bloody painful......... i never new that proverbs was investigated....right enough when you think of the way he worked.....he was a right butcher.
the only thing that has going for him is my sister still has fillings that he put in many years ago

There are local anaesthetics that numb surface areas but the nerves involved in dentistry are very sensitive and deep, they require proper, 'blocks'.
I have had to perform dentistry many times at sea. I had to take a course in dental surgery at Haslar Hospital before I was allowed to serve in a ship but it was mainly on how to extract a tooth or fill a bad cavity. Carrying a dentist was a luxury that couldn't be justified in a smaller ship. The big aircraft carriers had them.
