Bloody farce. Any time I was ever in the building it was busy.

Sam the decision was taken by the council, I think it speaks for itself.

So what's happening to Dalrymple House and where will the Registry Office be if West Stewart Street closes?
I quite like the idea of the Library being back where it started. Pity that Andrew Carnegie isn't footing the bill this time too.

I can tell you what I know:
The move to the library was taken by the council, as far as I know, health staff/board had no involvement
Dal House will be surplus to requiremnt, tbh that building is a complete dump anyhow
The story on IN was very detailed, 99% of staff didnt even know that level of detail
The only reason IC agreed to (in my opinion) to be a CHCP was due to financial constraints within THEIR budget
I'll make a predcition that in 10yrs time, Social care will be within the NHS and not local authorities!

I know what you mean, but I can just imagine the outcry if the Council had spent a couple of million on buying a building and doing it up rather than using the buildings that they currently have.
Perhaps when RI are wound up the Council should make a case to the Government to be given Custom House as a wee refund for the money that has been wasted by RI.

I'm not sure whether it is owned by the Crown Estates or directly by HMRC but here's hoping they NEVER give it to the council!!!!!

In June 2008 HMRC announced that the building would close in 2011 as part of a rationalisation project. Riverside Inverclyde acquired in property in January 2011 and have an ambitious plan to invest in the building and provide modern office accommodation and possibly some public use within the building. www.doorsopendays.org.uk/opendays/area_programmes.aspx?areaid=25 Not sure who will own the assets of RI when they are wound up. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they are 'transferred' to Clydeport/Peel Holdings under some dodgy deal.

As far as I know it’s HMRC but RI have had their mucky paws all over it of late. And I think I seen something with them promoting it as a set for Film and TV. Perhaps as part of the museum upgrade they could do something in there that is another place that is not used to its full potential

Well here's hoping HMRC tell old Wilson and his pirates to bugger off, that building is far too valuable to hand over to them. It would make a marvellous museum of shipbuilding and engineering. There are loads of ship models still in storage that could be displayed. I'd rather see it as a Wotherspoon's than watch it become RI's HQ.

That's an excellent idea, a proper museum, run by a trust to replace that hotch potch in Kelly Street. The council and RI need to be kept at arm's length from it lest the usual suspects dip their greedy snouts in.

Good idea moon, put that together with all those ship models lying about in a cellar and we could have a nice wee museum.
