jemima used to come over to us when we went over to the dam's early morning when i couldnt sleep and she would come up to us when we shouted on her....one day she brought 7 baby ducks with her for a feed....their parent was dead and she adopted them....she was lovely.
tidds did you hear about the duck that was at the back door of the health centre trying to get in? well it was jemima and after that she came up to the dam.....i loved her

I recall something about it, if I had known I'd have stolen her. I love animals, you always know where you are with them.

she was absolutely fantastic....when we called her we had to make sure that no one heard us as she would have come over....it never failed when you called on her, you could be on the other side of the dam and she would still come over.... the council cut the bushes down were she used to hide from the swans and after they did that she went into a garden next to a friend of ours....she made her home in the hedge but as far as we know a fox got her....it was a shame...when we were at the boat club folks used to come up and ask us were she was and they were so sad when we told them what had happened....bloody council could have left the bushes alone

tidds, because she was a farmyard duck i was frightened of her dying during the winter months and wanted to take her home..here is us living in a high flat ;D i had it all planned.....we have a rabbit cage which is big that all the hamsters lived in and she could go into the bath for a swim....we would keep her here till the better weather.....here was pat saying yes and i was so excited i had it all planned out but he was only kidding ....she survived the winter okay and everyone came over to feed her...she had her own fan club at the dam and the guys at the club kept an eye on her too.........she was lovely and its such a shame that she couldnt stay on the dam due to the council cutting the bushes back...that was her own sanctuary.. to be honest we dont know how she got to the back door of the health centre and more strange we dont know how she got to the dam.

a lot of folk came to the club to ask what had happened to her, even heaslehead asked us as they were wondering.... i blame the council for that...she used to use the bushes to get away from the swans when they were chasing her... she was that funny....she would tease the swans and they would chase her, she would go under the water and come up the other end and then give them a shout and all you saw was the swans turning to go towards her again and she would do the same again..... tidds, she couldnt fly as her wings had been docked so were ever she went she walked or should i saw waddled...... i really miss her over at the club..i sometimes hear her but then when looking its other ducks making the noise...
do you remember the duck that was killed a few years ago by school kids....well in the pictures with jemima there is another duck...that was her partner that was killed, she never took another partner but she did adopt 7 baby ducks and brought them up...she was really proud of them

when we read that article we just couldnt get over it..........they got the kids involved but god knows what happened to them.........all we know was that jemima's partner was stoned to death....i agree, i cant understand folks that are cruel to animals...if i got them i would have stoned them

Linda asked me to post this photo of a Huntsman spider - when she saw one when she visited us here in Melbourne, she took off and you couldn't see her for dust. This one isn't all that big but big enough ...this is something that she did like and she and Pat enjoyed a day out at one of the local parks where Rosellas landed on our heads, arms and shoulders trying to get share of a packet of biscuits we brought with us to go along with a flask of tea. I think we got one or two biscuits each and the birds got the rest. Cheeky things even came down and helped themselves right from the packet.
