Greetings and Salutations to you all !! I must apologies for being quiet for some time. In my capacity as an International Man of Mystery I am required to drop off the radar sometimes. Bloody inconvenient - but there you go.....needs must and all that tosh. I took the opportunity last weekend to pop into Greenock and surprise Mater and Pater - and surprise them I did !! Thought Pater was going to keel over when I walked in the door....the sight of the bottle of Auchentoshan 3 wood that I'd brought him however focused his attention. (Auchentoshan 3 Wood is matured initially in bourbon casks before being finished in Oloroso or Pedro Ximenez casks for an extra layer of rich, sweet fruitiness......apparently - all I know was it saved me the embarrassment of wafting a copy of the Telegraph over pater to bring him round which was the only wafting implement handy). Where was I ?? Ah yes - I was in Greenock wasn't I? Due to the temporary traffic lights on Regent St and my eagerness to surprise mumsie and dadsie I cantered up past said cordoned off area. I do hope I wasn't spotted as the horse cart passed the scene. Can you imagine the local constabulary putting 2 and 15 together and placing me at the scene of the skullduggery ? It could happen you know...I mean - I'm not exactly inconspicuous when I'm dressed in my finery - and you know how these constables can be jealous of a man who enjoys the finer things in life.... I had no need to fear being 'stitched up guv'nor' as I believe that two or three oiks have been 'lifted'.....it's jolly good to see your taxes are being well spent on an efficient constabulary (ahem....your taxes - most definately not mine !!! ....TAX? Good Lord No !) Anyway, Greenock wasn't so bad, caught up with a few old friends for a 'frapaccino' whatever the devil that was....won't be doing that again. Even went accross to the Cowal peninsula for a couple of hours to see a couple of aquaintences who were on judging duty at the highland games. On the downside though, I learned of the passing of a dear friend. I shall miss him and his educated arguments. A good all round egg. So - here I am back in my country pile and wondering what to do on this fine sunny day. I wonder if anyone has been placed in the stocks in the village square ? That should pass some time....being away means I have some fruit from the pantry that may not be suitable for human consumption...I've already relieved 2 maids of their services since my return - just can't get quality staff these days.... Anyway - I bid you farewell for now - but I shall return shortly...as long as I don't have to go off on travels again. Toodle Pip !!
