Scotland’s health service is greatly valued, delivering the highest possible care from cradle to grave.
But it’s under pressure at this time; a quick reading of the press cuttings will confirm that.
We just heard recently that if you go into hospital on a public holiday you are 48% more likely to die because of a lack of doctors and the availability of NHS services.
Bed reductions have resulted in trolley waits of eight hours raising the ire of nurses, union leaders and relatives in Inverclyde.
Cancer medicines which are freely available in England cannot be accessed in Scotland.

And waiting times are being fiddled with inquiries now underway.
There has been a debate as to who should shoulder the blame for this mess; Nicola Sturgeon who had been in the job for six years, or Alex Neil, who has been in the job for six months?
But while Ministers come and go, the SNP’s obsession with independence and referenda remains.
This obsession should not be allowed to come at the cost of a diminished National Health Service, an ideal which is far more popular than any notion of independence.
Whoever wrote this for Dunky must be on some kind of hallucinogenic substance.
Was this is the Daily Mail? Of course, if someone arrives at a casualty department much in their cups with a relative and demanding preferential treatment because of who there are, standards might falter a bit. This however is typical Labour rubbish from a rubbishy MSP and his rubbishy minders.
Don't lecture us about your perceived inadequacies of Nicola Sturgeon and Alex Neill, your party had years to run the Scottish NHS and in the end, your answer was to close hospitals including your own. When you left power, the system was in chaos and was grinding to a halt..I KNOW, I had to deal with it and the crappy Health Boards YOU set up. Nicola Sturgeon gave us back our NHS and that God for her. The SNP whilst being unashamedly pro-Independence, work hard in government and have served this nation well. If your lot had had its way, you would have introduced Tuition Fees and MANY other Labour ideas. Your late Saint David Cairns positively rejoiced in the prospect of Benefit, 'Reform' and the current cull was designed by HIM and YOUR party.
You disgusted me when you used the plight of poor, sick people with drug access problems to hammer the SNP. Would it hurt you to do something purely out of a desire to help rather than playing politics with vulnerable people?
It has often been said to me that anyone who asks for your help, never deals with you again. Unless the case is juicy and full of anti-SNP bile, you don't want to know. And, if it's a complaint against the Council, you run a mile. Does, "Thank you for your letter and the points it has raised, I will reply to it as soon as I can" ring a bell? It should, it's already set and ready to be printed off as required.
The truth is out there Dunky, it's just not within your grasp.
