www.greenocktelegraph.co.uk/news/greenock/articles/2013/04/18/454236-15m-rankin-revamp-starts/Perhaps I am wrong, but isn't this council obsessed with sport based, "leisure" facilities? How many more sports centres can they open? I also become very skeptical when I see plans for the Rankin Park, every time some idea appears you can be sure that in the background, some shady, 'developer' is lurking. Inverclyde needs many things but more football pitches are not at the top of the list. Also, is there something wrong with McCormack? His face seems to be in a permanent rictus with that bizarre grin. The least said about Dorrian the better.

I said it before and I will say it again, they may start off with pitches, give it a few years and it will be houses.

The picture caption is obviously wrong - it states: - "The two councillors survey the site."
Clearly the "site" can be seen behind the two who are posing for a picture in the Telegraph. Of course I cannot rule out the possibility that these two have eyes in the back of their heads...
I would also question the use of the term "disabled changing". Why make an explicit reference to this? Whatever happened to see the person not the disability....

I agree with Jim about the, 'disabled' bit. Sounds like the hard cell to me. That ground is marshy and very waterlogged and never was suitable for the purpose.
To paraphrase, 'Chewin' the Fat'.....I smell shite!

You've got to laugh, the council cant manage the facilities they already have without building new ones. Take a look at the Murdie Dam for instance, a prime leisure location which has been left to rot. Algae, weeds and a distinct aroma at the end of the summer months, a few quid well spent could change the dam making it the place it should be.

Exactly Jock, the Murdie is one of the Jewels in the Crown but I bet they'd love to fill it in and flog it to some slime ball company

Money doon the drain, wonder if the council offered to sub Thatcher's funeral, would have worked wonders for their coalition partnership.
Talking about wasted money fired off an email to Milipede and a letter to Cameron on that very subject.

Well one good thing, the Tories thought that Thatchermania would kick start their restoration but na, Labour's lead is even greater.
Did BIGOT go to the funeral? He LOVES his expenses.

Greenock does have a mail hockey team, although I think there's a lack of a male netball team
