iain MacKenzie has been on facebook and twitter claiming credit for the fall in youth unemployment in the district. Here is the copy of my e-mail to him this afternoon...
Dear Mr. McKenzie,
I am writing to you in connection with the recent fall in youth unemployment figures within Inverclyde. Any fall is most welcome given that unemployment is a total scourge and blights the lives of many young people in this area.
However, I am slightly confused by your twitter and facebook pages. Let me illustrate by posting your tweets: -
Iain McKenzie MP þ@InverclydeMP 4h
New stats show youth unemployment in Inverclyde down 15% reason Labour MP,MSP, Labour Council focused on what matters, jobs not separation.
Iain McKenzie MP þ@InverclydeMP 2h
A 26% drop in youth unemployment in past 6 months is great news for #Inverclyde. www.iainmckenziemp.co.uk/2013/04/17/drop-in-youth-unemployment-is-great-news-for-inverclyde/ …
As you will no doubt observe. there seems to be a clear discrepancy between the two figures. Four hours ago the fall was 15% and two hours later it had risen to 26%. Can you please explain where you lifted the figures from, and how such a discrepancy was allowed to occur? In your first tweet you attributed it to Inverclyde having labour representation at every level - can you substantiate this claim by presenting figures that clearly highlight how, when and where these reductions came about due directly to elected labour members.
I trust that this will not take you too long and I eagerly await your reply. I would also be grateful if you could provide a reply to my earlier e-mails regarding equal marriage.
Yours faithfully
Jim
