www.inverclydenow.com/news/local/8802-congregation-to-hold-crucial-vote-on-future-of-historic-buildingsOh dear how sad. Knock the bloody things down NOW! They were built by bastards who thought they were buying their way into heaven. These, 'Christians' rode past children who were malnourished and clad in rags and walked in bare feet all the year round. If there is a hell, the people who endowed these obscene edifices will be burning in it. As to that, 'cathedral of the West End', St Pauls, tear it down. It was the last refuge of the aspiring classes who saw going to church as an opportunity to impress the peasants and not an act of faith. The one on the Esplanade has some historical significance but moving it in the 20s more or less devalued it. O Lord, Thou kens what zeal I bear, When drinkers drink, an' swearers swear, An' singing here, an' dancin there, Wi' great and sma'; For I am keepit by Thy fear Free frae them a'. Holy Willie's Prayer by R Burns, Poet
