Once again yesterday I had to visit the Beatson Centre at Gartnavel Hospital and it took over an hour to find a parking place. Why does NHSGG&C keep stuffing more services into the place when there are no parking facilities? The Beatson is marvellous with great staff but by the time you get parked, your nerves are jangling. The place is surrounded by pretty little acres of grass and trees which serve no purpose. There were plans to build a multi-storey car park but there's not even a sniff of action on that one.
When Nicola Sturgeon removed car park charges from NHS hospitals, they were very annoyed because they lost a big revenue stream, well lavish lunches and junkets are not cheap! However, they still have an army of troglodytes who go around slapping, 'tickets' on any poor bastard who so much encroaches on a, 'bad' spot. A few weeks ago when we arrived at the Beatson we were stunned to see rows of cars with these crooked tickets slapped on their windscreen. Now that would be bad enough if the cars belonged to visitors but to, 'book' sick and most likely dying people is worse than wicked, it is deserving of a bullet in the head. Of course the tickets are not enforceable but most people are afraid of, 'authority' and simply pay up.
The poor staff are not allowed to park in the grounds at all and have to find spaces in the surrounding area.
