www.greenocktelegraph.co.uk/news/greenock/articles/2013/01/30/445131-house-price-rise-for-area/I find this, 'report' misleading. One of our friends who is a Greenock solicitor was bemoaning the lack of movement in the housing market in Inverclyde. Homes are remaining on sale for in some case, more than a year as a look at the agent's websites will confirm. In such circumstances, it is hard to imagine any increase in property prices. We were extremely lucky to find a buyer almost right away but that was because the buyer wanted the property to be next to other relatives. The house we live in now was on sale for 18 months and had had three price reductions. Nothing wrong with the property of course, it's just that people can't get mortgages.

That's because Greenock's a shithole economically....... Perhaps the coonsil should waken up and smell the shite they have created They need to transform the area into a dormitory area for Glasgow and stop wishing on some company arriving to provide hundreds of jobs - which aint gonnae happen in a million years so they need to start looking and making Inverclydde a place were people want to live, people who work elsewhere that is. After all they will be the folks with the disposable income to spend locally - although spending money locally will take a lot of hard work in providing something to spend it on.

Spot on sammy as always. This area as an industrial powerhouse is long gone. It is ideal for, 'dormitory' status and if good shopping was provided and decent homes, there would be more money in the coffers. Of course, the Labour council won't want that because these, 'new' Inverclyders will NOT vote Labour and that would never do.
And then there are the junkies, how do you tackle that problem?
