www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-21221828Well there you go, £billions wasted on a thing that will serve no one other than overpaid, expense account sodden executives and government ministers and all to save a mere half hour or so off the journey. Why should the taxpayer have to fund a project that will benefit the few and provide profits for private companies? If time is important, most people go by air with O'Shite Air and SleazyJet and the prices are rock bottom compared to the rail companies. I was quite shocked the other day to discover that Arriva is owned by Deutsche Bann (German State Railways) and they also own EWS the national rail freight service. The canny Germans never privatised their railways so the irony of it is, despite bombing us to buggery during the war they couldn't get their hands on our railways and now, thanks to that bastard, John Major, they own most of it. Without a doubt, Cameron, Gideon and all the other Tory vermin will be set to make a fortune out of this for themselves and their cronies.
