Commercial property like this changes hands on a regular basis, especially when it has sitting tenants such as these. The article says they were bought at auction.
It's fuck all to do with the council who owns what property. The council never even owned it in the first place. I fail to see what the council has to do with it

well the council collect the tax and I am sure that they know who owns the biggest slice of the town by rates alone.

well the council collect the tax and I am sure that they know who owns the biggest slice of the town by rates alone. In reality, that isn't quite the case - the councils will collect ratyes on commercial poperties, BUT the ratepayer may not be the owner. The owners could be individuals, PLCs, Limited Companies, LLPs or whatever, I'm sure if teh council wanted to spend time tracking down every individual, director and company representative they could, do youhave any idea how long that would take? Also if teh company is an off-shore business, then any information would be nigh on impossible to get It's not gainst any law to own property, commercial or domestic, the council don't care as long as they get their business rates (or council tax for domestic properties) They cannot decide on who owns what and how much they can own, thank fek that they diont have that power
