Detectives hunting the killer of Jack Doyle say there has been a good response to appeals for information - but that there are still people with vital information

That may be so Linda, but the fact remains very few people trust the police here and most of that is the fault of the force.
It maybe that schools should do a survey and ask the young people their thoughts and feelings about the police, In the old days every scheme had their own police and the kids and police knew each other, today the police forget just exactly who they are and who pays them a salary.
This would be one of the reasons as to why people wont talk to the police. Another thing is the police forget respect has to be earned.

i remember when i had the shop a man came into get his hair cut....nothing different, we talked and he paid his bill and off he went down the street.... a couple of days later i saw his picture in the paper as he was missing so i contacted the police to say that he had been in.......that started the nightmare.... the police came in to get a statement which i dont mind but it was the way they did it.....i had a stack of clients and i was using chemicals that i had to keep an eye on....they didnt like that.........they said they would come back and yes they did but this time i was okay, no clients so enough time to talk to them... now my salon wasnt huge but it did have a back shop, cupboards, toilet and a back door.....as they were questioning me they searched the shop......they werent nice to me and questioned me about what he said, how he said it, how much did he pay and what money and i mean what coins did he hand over...did he say were he was going.......it went on and on..... they came back again and they searched the shop and questioned me again and this time i thought i was guilty of something....yea cutting his hair..............i was getting fed up with this...all i did was tell them that i had seen him, that he had come into the shop and got his hair cut....i thought i was helping......
a couple of days later it was in the paper that he was found in the clyde....i didnt get a call, an apology for their treatment, nothing......i swore that i would never contact the police again if i see a picture of someone that is missing that i have seen

Yes, arrogant arseholes who put people's backs up and then they girn about getting no co-operation from the public.
This investigation is beginning to stink to high heaven and sooner or later the Justice Secretary will have to be involved. The last thing this family needs is another cold case.
Every time I have contact with the police, they make me very angry. A while back we were plagued with neds running up and down Finnart Street screaming and yelling. One of my neighbours remonstrated with them and got threatened. I called the cops and I was told they were busy with other more serious matters and that they would, "settle down eventually". Naturally I complained and told them that they had better not summon me lest I be engaged in more, "serious matters".
When I comes down to it, I have no faith in them and I don't like their aggressive attitude.

if we have any problems with gangs hanging around the court we have to contact the wardens as we get a better service from them than the police.... we tell them that is all elderly folks...(not us) in the court and they are vunerable....we get no where with them....its not the first time jocky has gone down to them to move them off....i am always with him so they cant say that he did anything to them....we pay for a force yet we dont have one....god bless the wardens who we have had plenty of service from them

As far as policing is concerned, this area is the land that time forgot.

when we did speak to an officer they said the same about the call centre....they keep modernising things to make them run smoother but all it does is cause confusion...go back the way and hire more officers
