At a time when Scotland struggles to find Scottish players for football and other sports what do we have? Bloody American football, a game for simpletons playing against simpletons. It has no skill other than an ability to block your opponent by the use of sheer bulk. For f****s sake, this is Inverclyde, not bloody Des Moines Iowa!!!!!!

Whilst acknowledging a similar dislike of American Cultural imperialism, I think anything that can get the weans running about has to be welcomed. I cannot endorse the parochial view of sport - we should be willing to try anything that increases sports participation - anyone for some sumo wrestling now? (unfortunately I don't need to wear a false suit for this...)

I fear American football is not really much of an athletic pastime. It's all about being bigger than your opponent.
Mind you, I was a victim of, 'cultural imperialism' in the Academy. They tried but thankfully failed, to make me play bloody cricket. I think the word, 'boredom' was coined simply to describe cricket.
I really don't think I like being globalised by a globe covered in the stars and stripes.

not so Tidds, if you were watching the highlights of the recent superbowl you would have seen a very athletic kick off return for a 110yd TD - and the guy could fair move. Speed, decision making and small frame contributed to a fabulous score...

i love american football hate uk football at least the yanks get stuck into the game and dont worry if their hair is out of place, every time you turn the sports channels on here its football the bastards think everybody likes it, i would ban the game posing shower of plonkers

Well, here I am in the USA and believe me, I have been to a game and I felt brainwashed by the amount of standing and sitting that was done, due to the amount of times they played the star spangled banner. I spent the whole night with that bloody tune in my head
