This seems a reasonable enough idea. That site lay derelict until the late 60s when Mitchell's built their car showroom. Anything that gives Morrisons and Tesco a bit of competition is no bad thing. Mind you, ALDI is a crap shop which is like a downmarket Lidl (is that possible???).

Its a race to the bottom in providing shopping and services in Greenock, the coonsil is like a lot of the people(no wonder they keep getting elected) no aspirations, no get up n go and a huge feeling of entitlement

Will that mean the local mafia will have a run there with a open topped bus, just like Beverly hills lol. This town has nothing going for it and maybe it is time decent folk gave up the ghost and tried to make it better for the young. I dare say that most of the young here will need the likes of Aldi and Lidl, the prices at Tesco is getting to be a joke, however the good thing is that more people are watching their pennies and shopping about.
