I am very disappointed on the cost of tickets into the Beacon and I for one will not be frequenting it. Having gone online to price the tickets for a children's dance show, I was shocked to find they are £12 per person, no concessions and no family tickets and to boot, if tickets are booked online add another £2.20 p. That is the price I would pay for Glasgow with recognizable names. I would say this price is a wee bit like emotional blackmail as every child would like their family and relatives there to see them. As I said in the beginning , this will be unaffordable for most families in this town and generally there are a few of the family going, I shall be the only one there.

I see that the Inverclyde now has printed my wee bit about the prices I see that the Inverclyde now has printed my wee bit about the prices You'll also note that the dance academy, being a business are charged business rates to use the place AND it is the dance academy who set the final price. Perhaps you should be asking these questions 1) what profit margin are the dance academy taking per ticket? 2) how much does the centre charge for kids voluntary groups to use the facilities, like the BB, scouts or guides for example? 3) why didn't the dance academy use either port glasgow or Greenock town hall? 4) why do you expect a PROFESSIONAL BUSINESS to get things cheap or indeed not attempt to make a profit from ticket sales?

Quite a good point sammy but I do think it presages a trend that will see Royal Concert Hall prices becoming the norm in that, 'space'. The whole project is a massive ego trip that will end in tears as the building itself falls to bits. You'll probably be invited to sponsor a bucket when the rain pours in.

email from the Beacon
Good afternoon,
Our ticket prices vary with every production that takes place. It is at the production companies discretion how high they want to price their tickets. Not all productions we have at The Beacon Arts Centre are high in price.
I hope this information finds you well and if you have any other queries please get in touch.
Kind Regards,
Stephanie Woods
Box Office Administrator
Port Glasgow and Greenock town hall is not big enough for over 200 children and their need for changing facilities.
It also states that the Beacon is a charity.

I shall take it as read that the prices would also have to cover rehearsals before the night,so maybe I shall ask how much their rental fee's are for business , amateur , and community groups.

Hmmm, it used to be a wee wummin who took the tickets, I wonder how much the junior executive gets for a salary.
